Would it surprise you to find that Greyton is another of the Western Cape Boland’s gems? The town is stooped in all kinds of history that lends the town to a very quaint laid back charm and appeal, typical with country living. As a start the Cape Vernacular architectural heritage has remained largely intact and has spilled over to many of the new and newer homes in the town.
Take a walk down the tree lined main road in the town and one is almost overcome by a sense of charming nostalgia by the types of preserved architecture and the buildings and then to place this all against the backdrop of the Cape Overberg Mountains is a postcard picture to behold.
But, the town is also a lucrative property market which is also favored by weekend and holiday visitors, many of whom return and purchase a part of this sleepy hamlet.
As mentioned the Cape Vernacular architecture is mainly intact and there are a few modern versions of this architecture that has just added more value to the general property values of the town.
The property market in the town is pegged at the upper middle-class to prestigious market which should be no real surprise as the scenery is just absolutely pristine.
The newer townhouse developments and apartment buildings have also magically capitalized on the highly sought after architectural style in the region which adds diversity to the property usage of the town which consist of freestanding homes, commercial residential guest houses, townhouses and apartments and naturally there are an innumerable amount of smallholdings and farms too.
For the second holiday home investors seeking tranquil charm with exclusivity this is the right town to set up residency.
The town naturally will not be able to function without amenities like schools. Here is a short list of schools to choose from for the permanent residents; Greyton House Independent School, Emil Weder Secondary School and Uitkyk Primary School. One could almost be certain the children have a more balanced scholastic experience in such a tranquil town.
