South Crest is a well-established suburb in the Alberton municipal district. This is still very much a developing suburb which is obvious when one sees all the new sectional title developments which consist of townhouses and apartments that are underway. This is also a positive indication of a highly buoyant, lucrative and high demand residential suburb.

So, with all the sectional title developments there has to be a specific market that is being catered for and this is possibly the most lucrative market segment namely the first-time buyers’ market and young couples.

The architecture in South Crest is mostly modern with some older homes in the more conventional category. The status of the suburb is middle to upper-class which is really the whole spectrum. The influence of the new developments has brought with it a newer fresh architecture adding an aesthetic value to the suburb which also appeals to the younger generation but has also increased the general value of property to the suburb. The well-maintained roads and good service delivery also adds to the appeal of South Crest as a residential address.

The prime location is one of the factors that attract so much interest for homes in the suburb as there are a number of major industrial hubs nearby such as Steeledale, Tulisa Park, Electron and Alrode.

The suburb is also within easy access to the major commercial hubs in Rivonia, Sandton and Houghton along highways such as the N12 which connects to the N3 and onto the N3.

The suburb has access to a large number of reputable schools such as Crestview Primary School, Parklands High School, Hoerskool Alberton and High School Alberton.

There are more than enough malls that cater for retail needs and entertainment such as Mall at Newmarket, Mall of the South, The Glen Shopping Centre and Comaro Crossing.
