Rosebank is a suburb located north of the Johannesburg CBD.
The suburb was established on a farm Rosemill which was owned by Mr. Lorenco. In 1986 he sold plots on auction and slowly the suburb was developed with a high density land use in mind. This land use was the primary reason for Rosebank looking the way it does today.
As the suburb was being developed a Swedish architect Max Kirchhoffer designed office buildings in Rosebank with a retail hub. This drew a lot of interest from other developers which increased demand for property in the suburb and region.
The property use is mainly commercial and then high density sectional-title apartments which are in high demand. This is reminiscent of what was fashionable in the late 60’s and 70’s with apartments being the lifestyle.
Today it is more exclusive which is in part due to the reputation of the suburb and then factors like location, proximity to amenities like retail outlets, distance from commercial hubs and roads linking to other suburbs and amenities.
Property values are high and this is due to location and the exclusivity by reputation. The redevelopment of the properties is the other factor contributing to the property values with exclusive modern architecture, use of space and finishings.
The suburb is ideal for executives that work in the city and have family property in other suburbs or towns. It is the convenience of lock-up and-go lifestyle with exclusivity.
There is need for noting in the suburb with a number of exclusive guest houses and hotels catering for overnight and short term business tourists.
Stable growth in property values is a major reason for astute investors wanting property within the suburb.
