The greater Rietvlei region of Pretoria East has been steadily developed into various separate developments like townhouse complexes and exclusive estates and new extensions to the greater Rietvlei.
Due to the Rietvlei dam being the main point of origin for most of these estate developments the tendency was towards eco and lifestyle and a fishing estate.
The estates have also had the effect of attracting more buyers to the outskirt of the suburbs into the estates thus setting a standard of prestige to the region.
Today the greater Rietvlei is not as remote as it was in its inception and is in a somewhat privileged location as the access to major highways is a factor that should sway any potential home owner to settle down in this close to nature region. For example the R21 is just off Nelmapius Drive and to the west along Nelmapius Drive access to Centurion and Midrand.
The R21 offers access to the OR Tambo airport and the larger industrial hubs in Jet Park, Isando and Olifantsfontein. Delmas Road offers an alternative route to Benoni and the industrial hubs on the East Rand.
The fact that Rietvlei is still being developed has a positive influence on the general property values in the region and adding top that the prestigious status of estates means property values will continue to rise.
With the exclusive status the region has attained the need for exclusive schools also arose and the list is steadily increasing. Here is a list of some already well-established private and public school; Cornwall Hill College, Rietvlei Akademie, Hoerskool Waterkloof and Laerskool Elarduspark.
There are a number of malls to choose from and this is a matter of choice or preference. Here is a list of some of the malls; Irene Village Mall, Highveld Centre, Irene Mall and Moreleta Square.
