North Riding is an old well established sought after suburb in the north of Johannesburg. The suburb started off as agricultural holdings, essentially small farms, which due to the demand for residential property from the ever expanding Johannesburg’s northern suburbs, became a residential suburb although it is still referred to Agricultural Holdings on maps and some documentation.
The suburb has expanded and bylaws has allowed the suburb to be developed into a residential suburb which is viewed as an almost exclusive suburb in the upmarket category.
The suburb has a mixed use of property with free standing homes, townhouse complexes and some apartments which caters for the higher end of the income market.
The architecture is mixed with conventional and modern designs from medium size to large multi-story homes.
The suburb is fully fledged with a commercial hub, retail outlets and entertainment venues which further increase demand for homes in the suburb.
The property values are positively influenced by the proximity of other suburbs such as Olivedale, Fourways, Douglasdale and Bryanston.
These are all suburbs which have the exclusive name tag and offer the same value in property.
There are also many good schools available in North Riding. These include Curro Aurora Private School, Brescia House Ursuline College, Fourways High School and Everwood Pre-Primary School.
Malls close to the suburb are North Riding Square, All Saints Shopping Center, Bel Air Shopping Mall and Northgate Shopping Center.
North Riding is in a prime location with major routes close by adding to the value of the properties. The main routes close by are Witkoppen Road and Malibongwe Drive.
The suburb still has room to expand and with the high demand for homes in the suburb the prices will remain stable within market trends.
