Mount Croix in Port Elizabeth is a prestigious mixed-use residential suburb. The mixed-use consists of freehold homes, apartment buildings, townhouses and commercial property. The redevelopment of the city centre could very well be a push in the upward direction for apartment complexes in Mount Croix too.
The architecture of homes in the suburb is a treasure trove with a mixture of Edwardian, Art Deco and Victorian architectural styles to choose from. This offers renovators an opportunity to go back in history and restore homes to their former glory and if sold these homes fetch their value on the sales market.
Situated in Nelson Mandela Bay means the suburb is in a prime location with easy access to all the major commercial hubs, schools and malls surrounding the suburb. Set in a busy part of the town, one would expect road traffic to be troublesome and slightly high pollution but this is not the case for the suburb.
If you are into retail therapy then you can visit the Green Acres Shopping Centre that is the busiest and one of the oldest centres in the Eastern Cape which also means commercial entertainment is in abundance. For the outdoor types, the safe swimming beaches are 10 to 15 minutes drive from the suburb. Other malls close to the suburb are Pier 14 Shopping Centre, Stanford Crossing and The Atrium Centre. For the younger generation, there are numerous nightclubs and restaurants to choose from.
Naturally, being a prestigious suburb means the general property values are high and for first-time buyers, apartment buildings are a stepping stone from which to upgrade and buy a luxury home in the suburb.
The suburb is serviced by reputable public and private school which are Collegiate Girls High School, Grey High School, Lawson Brown High School and Erica Girls’ Primary School.
