Lochvaal is a suburb of Vereeniging on the East Rand and it may seem strange but it is mostly farms and smallholding properties. There are several estates which complement the suburb and with good reason. The fact that it is still mostly undeveloped allows developers to produce estates that have a farm life and the space to boot. Estates that are on the water's edge will, of course, be high and architecture breathtaking.
Lochvaal is situated on the banks of the Rietspruit Dam which flows into the Vaal River. Being situated on the water's edge is in part where the property values stem from then, of course, the homes are a mixture of classic contemporary, modern and a variety of typical farm and homestead architectural designs.
For numerous homeowners, Lochvaal offers the opportunity to own a second breakaway weekend home where they can enjoy all that nature in the region has to offer like water sport activities, sightseeing, bird watching and exploring the archaeological sights. The suburb is also the residential address for a large portion of the suburb. Vereeniging is a large industrial and commercial hub and a short drive you will be in Alberton, Wadeville and Alrode which are also major industrial nodes. The N1 Highway makes all this travel convenient.
There are numerous schools which are close to the suburb such as Vaal Triangle Academy, Emmanuel Private School, Hoerskool Vanderbijlpark and The Vaal High School.
For all your retail needs or commercial entertainment, one can visit Vaal Mall, Vaal Walk Shopping Mall and Palms Shopping Mall.
So one cannot say the suburb is rural because it consists of farms and smallholdings. In time the need for denser residential housing will make its way to Lochvaal and it will have already been established as a prestigious suburb.
