Kempton Park is a town that forms part of the Ekurhuleni municipality on the East Rand which is one of the larger municipalities in Gauteng. The town was established in 1903 by a German named Karl Wolff.
Manufacturing is the foundation of the town and many other towns on the East Rand with Isando being the largest industrial hub in Gauteng. This fact has had a knock on effect of further development of residential suburbs being needed as industrialization increased on the East Rand.
