Jeppestown is a city which has it all to offer and is mainly due to major re-development projects that were initiated back in early 2012 to revive the various Central Business Districts of Gauteng to their former glory. The list of CBDs that were targeted include Roodepoort, Springs, Benoni, Pretoria CBD, Kempton Park and Jeppestown.

Other inner city developments are planned once the current projects are completed. The Jeppestown project entails the re-engineering of existing buildings for rental use as this is one of the easier ways of generating stable long term income to fund the projects and to lend sustainability to the residents. The other parts of the project financing are derived from partners in the National Housing Finance Corporation and the rest from the Entrepreneur Empowerment Property Fund.

The project has seen huge success in part of Johannesburg’s inner city, such as in the case of Braamfontein where property values have increased and the properties are now in demand for various uses.

Jeppestown is well located and the project will in all likelihood spur other Jeppestown property owners to follow suit and re-develop derelict buildings and generate income from what were obsolete sources.

According to the NHFC the rental values will be in the region of R 3400 per month for a one bedroom unit which is a market related value across Gauteng. Thus the income will match the capital spent on the project and is a statement by the developers and investors that this is a long term vision of improvement.

The surrounding properties will be impacted in a positive way by the projects and thus create a stable investment platform for the future.
