East Lynne is a Pretoria suburb located in the far North East region. A great number of the suburbs close by and including East Lynne were established and developed for employees working at the Koedoespoort plant of the then South African Railway Services. Many of the homes were referred to as railway houses. The construction of the homes was in part undertaken by the railway and overseen by their building inspectors which according to legend were notoriously strict in implementing and maintaining building standards.
The homes are of conventional architecture, but of sturdy construction and for this reason and the location the suburb was in high demand as a residential address.
The suburb is well established and some of the homes still fall within the affordable category while some homes were demolished to make way for more modern homes, thus creating diversity in the suburb.
East Lynne is flanked by suburbs such as Jan Niemand Park, Lindopark, Waverley and Silverton.
The suburb is in a good location for travel to the industrial hubs, amenities and other towns and suburbs via theBaviaanspoort Road, Stormvoël Road, the N4 highway, the N1 highway and Zambezi Drive.
East Lynne has well established schools. Schools in and around the suburb include Sonitus School, Hoërskool F H Odendaal, Anchor Christian Academy, Hoërskool Staatspresident C R Swart, Hoërskool Oos-Moot and John Vorster Technical High School.
East Lynne is located close to the Jacaranda Children’s Home located in Derdepoort, which is known for it's Christmas Lights display over the festive season.
Malls close to East Lynne are Eastpark Center, East Lynne Spar, Kolonnade Mall and Waverley Plaza.
Property values are affordable which makes the demand for property in the suburb higher and more stable. The suburb also has a good mixture of property use from apartments to freehold homes which caters for a broader base of tenants and buyers in the suburb.
