The Valley of a Thousand Hills is the backdrop for the suburb of Hillcrest and its picturesque suburb of which Drummond is one.
Drummond is still very much a developing suburb which is indicative by the mixed property usage which comprises vacant land, freehold homes, small holdings and a majority of farms.
Property values in the suburb put the suburb in the middle-class income group and this is true for the smallholdings and farms which all offer great development opportunities like commercial use due to the various tourist destination s in the region.
With the number of country and lifestyle estates in the greater Hillcrest region it is a further indication of the high degree of demand for homes in the suburb and this may also translate to some of the vacant land being developed as more security and lifestyle estates and this in turn will have both a stabilizing and strong yield on property values.
Drummond is a mere 30 minutes’ drive from Durban which is not far by any South African standard of travel time with the benefit of the country lifestyle possibly being the deciding factor in residing in the suburb.
Even though Drummond is still developing there are a number of popular schools which service the suburb such as Roseway Waldorf School, Cliffdale Primary School and Kearnsey College.
The suburb is located close to the N3 highway which does translate to a prime location with access to Pietermaritzburg, Pinetown and Durban.
Drummond is also only 14 km from Hillcrest which means all the retail needs are within easy access. Here is a list of some of the nearby malls, Hillcrest Village Mall, Hillgate Mall and a bit further Kloof Village Mall.
Pinetown and Pietermaritzburg have major commercial hubs which are close to Drummond and this means travel to the office is very convenient.
