De Wetshof is located in the eastern region of Johannesburg with loads of appeal for home owners.
Ancient tree lined streets, bay windows, wooden floors and high pressed ceilings - if this does not set the theme then the location will do it. De Wetshof is located on a small mountain facing south overlooking Bruma Lake and the affluent eastern suburbs of Johannesburg.
It is only a short drive on the R24 from the OR Tambo Airport west and past Eastgate Shopping Mall, up past Bruma Lake and you get the idea of the elevation and setting.
The suburb has kept up with architecture in some parts but mostly people have decided to renovate existing structures to blend with the theme which is very much inspired by the famous architect, Sir Herbert Baker, responsible for setting suburbs like Park Town apart from other suburbs and thus adding an air of affluence in Johannesburg which is almost unrivaled elsewhere in South Africa.
De Wetshof is well established with many schools and malls. Residents can choose from schools in and around De Wetshof, offering Athlone Boys High School, Reddam House Bedfordview, Sacred Heart College, King Edward VII School and Ivy Academy South Africa.
The location of the suburb has to be the best there is, since it is close to Johannesburg CBD, the commercial hubs of Bruma and Bedfordview, the R24 highway and major teaching hospital universities.
De Wetshof also have many malls close by, including Eastgate Mall, Bruma Mall and Bedford Gardens Mall.
Attractions close to Dewetshof are the Observatory Golf Club, the Johannesburg Observatory, the Johannesburg National Zoo, Houghton Golf Club and the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.
This is one of those Johannesburg suburbs which is hidden and has slowly matured like a good red wine.
