Dawnview is a suburb of Germiston on the East Rand. Like its sister towns and suburbs it was established as Germiston progressed and expanded around the mining of gold. It was meant to be a working class suburb servicing the mines, railway and engineering which was all aimed towards the mining industries.
The suburb can be described as quaint with older homes and their typical old world charm of brookie-lace caped front porches and large sweeping bay windows. It is idyllic and has a sense of tranquility that is not often enjoyed in suburbs so close to major industrial hubs. The tree-lined neat streets speak of a well kept middle-class suburb with a predominantly freehold home property use.
There are some “bargains” to be had in the suburb with restoration in mind which will be money well invested as the stable growth in property value of the suburb is equal to the market norms. For this reason the letting market is the other option to consider wit the benefit of the prime location of the suburb not only to industrial hubs but schools, malls and commercial hubs which are accessible on the many freeways and major roads.
The other benefit that the suburb should be accredited with is its close proximity to the OR Tambo airport which is easily accessible via Main Reef Road and then the R24 freeway.
The prime location of the suburb is further highlighted by a large number of malls which are conveniently close and accessible.
There is a proposal for parts of the suburb to be boomed which could, if approved add more value to the properties in the suburb.
