In Gauteng and the East Rand in general, a prime location is very much a case of preference and financial status. Berton Park in Boksburg is located in the heart of the industrial node of the East Rand which makes residential property highly sought after.
As a suburb of Boksburg, Berton Park was established as a residential suburb primarily to cater for staff employed in the various mines surrounding Boksburg and Germiston.
Of course, many of the mines have become obsolete and from mining, there was a shift to the allied industries which have diversified to cater for alternative industrial manufacturing related industries. Today the region has a thriving industrial and commercial sector which offers employment to a large demographic. These include major manufacturing companies like Barloworld Equipment, Macsteel Trading and a number of road freight companies.
Berton Park can be classified as a middle-class suburb with a diverse mixed property usage consisting of freestanding homes, apartments and townhouses. To say that one sector is performing better than another would be a misnomer as demand for property in the suburb is general is high. This gives the suburb a very stable Median average value showing stable growth in relation to the general market of Gauteng. The mixed architecture also appeals to a broad consumer base but being an older established suburb does show that there is a general norm of architecture categorized in the classic conventional era.
There are so many established schools in the region it could become confusing to make a choice, here a just some of the nearby schools; Hoerskool Goudrif, Wit Deep Primary School, Witfield Laerskool and Hoerskool Dr. EG Jansen. It is notable to see that many of schools bare reference to mining of the region dating far back in time.
Malls catering for retail and entertainment are East Rand Mall, East Point Shopping Centre and on the more exclusive end, there is East Gate Mall in Bedfordview.
