The Western Cape Langeberg Mountain range is the backdrop to a spectacular tourist destination and some of the countries most pristine regions that are free of major commercialization.

There are villages like Riversdale that is a residential village comprising rural farmland and a small village-like town. This does not mean property in this picturesque village lacks value. The property market in the village is highly competitive and buoyant.

The town lays between Still Bay and Witsand with the Langeberg Mountains and the Sleeping beauty mountain peak, setting the landscape. In the winter months, the landscape becomes a tapestry of floral beauty created by the Agathosma that has a pungent odour, the indigenous Fynbos, honeybush, Proteas, Erika’s and tea. Honeybush is indigenous to the Riversdale region and is a lucrative source for the farming communities income and the export market.

The town is thus completely self-sustaining, generating income from farming. Secondary to this tourism market.

Owning a farm attracts tourists that visit the mapped and documented Eden Country Routes and guest houses, in turn, flourish from this secondary market.

One can expect the architectural style of homes to consist of a broad array of styles from lavish luxurious farmstead homes and guest houses that fall in a boutique category and residential homes that are equally attractive. Period style homes are an important registry of the town's history and development and many of these homes are preserved and fetch high sales values.

The demographic of the town is broad in terms of age. There are pensioners, working-class citizens, middle and upper-class income groups in the town.

There are schools in the town servicing the education needs. Langenhoven High School, Hoer Landbouskool Oakdale and Laerskool Volschenk are some of the reputable schools in the town.

Fresh produce is on the table for three meals a day, and for other retail needs, one would travel elsewhere.
